In addition to their long-term commitment to the land, the McCrary family and the employees of Big Creek Lumberii Company have a strong sense of responsibility to their community. Because of our logging equipment and the expertise of our equipment operators, we have been able to provide invaluable services to the community in the case of natural disasters such as forest fires and floods. Each year, Big Creek donates financial support and materials to numerous local organizations including Monterey Bay Aquarium; Monterey Bay Salmon & Trout Project; Boys & Girls Clubs of Half Moon Bay, Paso Robles and Santa Cruz; Land Trust of Santa Cruz County; Santa Cruz County Fair; Leadership Santa Cruz; Today's Youth Matter; and numerous school and youth programs. Big Creek employees are members of boards of directors for numerous organizations including Farm Bureau of Santa Cruz County, Land Trust of Santa Cruz County, Davenport Volunteer Fire & Rescue Auxiliary, Timberi Operators Council, The Ride & Tie Association, Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz County, Santa Cruz County Fair, Scotts Creek Watershed Council and Central Coast Forest Association. They are also involved in Pleasure Point Business Association and Santa Cruz Business Council. Numerous Big Creek employees are also actively involved in educational activities and coaching youth sports.

Each year Big Creek receives hundreds of donation requests. Since we are unable to support all the worthy organizations from which we receive solicitations, we try to give preference to local groups with an emphasis on educational and youth activities.
